At the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games was the time when she broke the record as the first athlete to achieve a perfect 10, in asymmetric bars. Additionally, Comaneci went on to earn six more perfect tens in order to become one of the youngest Olympic Gold Medalist. Nadia Comaneci not only attracted interest, she also assisted in helping Romania become a household name. The sporting icon became a global sensation when she scored a record-breaking performance. The legend she created was legendary, and helped popularize gymnastics across the world. The sport also altered the perception about female gymnasts.
